I am SI WE DWE from a country named a golden land, Myanmar. It is such a great opportunity to be a GMBA student at National Chiao Tung University (NCTU), Taiwan. Before I have come across about this university, I had the opportunity to work for different organizations and I have earned industry-working experiences in Singapore and in a few countries for several years. However, I had a dream to become an entrepreneur who would also become someone who can help and lead the employees to fulfill their desired dream.  So, in order to be able to become what I wanted to be, I realized that I also needed to learn more business management skills to be able to manage the business well. Then, I started looking for MBA program to learn the business knowledge to be able to carve my ambition come true. 

Fortunately, I was offered a generous scholarship by NCTU. In the very beginning, I was really worried to become a student again as I had been working for so many years and I felt that I was not ready to go back to study. However, surprisingly, I have been doing quite well and having a perfect student life now. I am very much satisfied as I am getting not only business knowledge but also learning in Chinese language which is spoken in so many countries today. I feel that this is a great opportunity for me to have such a great student life again. 

After graduating from GMBA in 2011, Jirawut stayed in Taiwan to work. He worked, in cooperation with friends, as an overseas purchasing dealer. He found that overseas purchasing held great potential for business opportunities, and soon resigned from his job to found a new company “Bangkokian 曼谷人”. Despite experiencing a difficult beginning, he is now ready to enter the international market, in large part due to the lasting effects of the “GMBA experience”. From a humble start as a Thai student on scholarship, Jiruwat was able to build a successful fashion accessories business in Taiwan. He attributes the turning points to his success as fate. 

Coming to Taiwan was a coincidence and NCTU was an even bigger coincidence 

  A short and thin boy carrying a cotton handbag, Jiruwat hid his gentle eyes behind glasses and a shy smile. As soon as he spoke, it was with fluent Chinese. He said before he arrived in Taiwan, he couldn’t speak a word of Chinese. He practiced intensely every day so that he would be able to stay in Taiwan to work. 

  Jiruwat studied Finance in college, entering the Thai Prudential Associate Certified Public Accountants PwC as a consultant. He offered guidance to companies that wanted to enter the Thai market. Although the work was difficult, he slowly built up his skills. One day, he happened to pass by the Taiwan Education Center and saw the International Student Scholarship announcement. His heart swelled with a bold idea. Originally, he had planned to go to the UK to study, but what if he changed the location, choosing to go to Taiwan instead? 

  “Just as I decided to apply, the person in charge told me the only deadline for application that had not passed was NCTU’s GMBA program. So that is how I decided to come to GMBA.” Speaking about this, Jiruwat felt a little embarrassed. “But, I have never regretted my decision to come”, he said earnestly. 

2011年於GMBA畢業後便留在台灣工作的王吉悟，工作閒暇之餘與朋友合作，當起海外代購賣家，發現海外代購是個具有潛力的商機，於是隨後辭職創立了「Bangkokian 曼谷人」。經歷艱辛的草創初期，如今已準備好進軍國際市場，其中「GMBA經驗」深深地影響著他。一個學財金的泰國人，最後在台灣卻做起流行服飾配件的生意，他說一切的轉折都是緣分。

來台灣完全是湊巧，而交大更是湊巧中的碰巧

      提著棉質手提袋、個子不太高、瘦瘦的王吉悟，鏡片後的眼神溫和，帶著靦腆的笑容，一開口就是流利的中文。他說他到台灣前一句中文都不會，因此每天都非常認真地練習，就是為了想留在台灣繼續工作。

      大學就讀財金系，隨後進入泰國資誠聯合會計師事務所PwC擔任顧問，針對進入泰國市場的企業進行輔導，雖然業務繁重，但隨著時間也就慢慢地熟練了。有天他正好經過台灣教育中心辦公室，看到國際學生獎學金的公告，心中突然冒出一個大膽的念頭，本來就有去英國進修打算的他開始想：如果換個地點，去台灣進修呢？

      「就在打算申請的時候，負責人告訴我只剩下交大GMBA還沒過截止日，於是我就這樣誤打誤撞地來了。」說到這，王吉悟有點不好意思地笑了出來，「但是我從來沒有後悔過。」隨後他認真地說。

Time flies very fast. It has been nearly a year since I decided to come to Taiwan to continue my education in the GMBA program at the National Chiao Tung University. For the first semester of the program, I took various required courses, all of which were challenging, but also interesting, especially Global Business Management. Through this course, I learned the various Business Management practices of different countries and different cultures. More importantly, this course focused on several case studies about my country, Vietnam, including history, culture and the economy.

It was a completely new and exciting experience studying and hearing comments about your own country from the perspectives of students from many different cultures. Suddenly, the love for my country was awakened more strongly than before. I had even more motivation to prepare for class. At the end of Global Business Management, we took a country visit to Ho Chi Minh, the largest city in Vietnam. I was ecstatic. Not only was I coming back to my country after six months away, but also I had the chance to introduce Vietnam to my classmates. The night before the country visit, I felt so excited that I listened to the song “ Hello Vietnam” over and over again, smiling.

One of the wonderful classes in the GMBA program is Globalization Seminar. Important guest speakers come to share their knowledge and expertise. Each seminar contributes to your career path through guest speaker’s experiences.
The global seminar class not only invites top level businessman but also successful entrepreneurs and innovative start-up founders. On the last day of March, one of the most popular YouTubers in Taiwan, Johnny Chiang, the founder and producer of STOP KIDDIN' STUDIO was invited to share his entrepreneurial journey. He shared information about his business, as well as his personal life experience as an entrepreneur. He motivated us to find ourselves, set goals and do it now!

Here are some of impressions from the students who attended the seminar.

“I truly think that because he says "I'm not deserving of the praise, I don't understand why I can be here", that's exactly the reason he is amazing and very deserving. Doing what you are passionate about is what's important. Though you feel a bit lost right now, just keep swimming (like Dory) and at some point you WILL find a path that works for you. Sometimes if we turn off the GPS, we get experiences we would never have had a chance to get by following the usual road.”

I have just finished one semester in the GMBA program in Taiwan. I was excited about coming here to pursue something new in my life, but honestly, I was also worried and afraid. My life in Korea was stable and comfortable. Of course, there were times when I was a bit bored with the same repetitive daily routine, but, it was the everyday life of ordinary people and I was satisfied.

After hitting my thirties, I suddenly wondered if I was truly happy and decided that I needed to take some time to figure out my path in life. I believed that I could come to better understand myself during this time. I had heard that many Westerners take a “gap year” after they graduate from high school to take time to think about their future. This “gap year” gave them time to reflect on their career options, relationships, and life goals before entering college. However, in Asian cultures, especially Korea, people do not take time for

Almost one year ago, I made one of the biggest decisions of my life. I quit my job, a dream job to any newly graduated student like myself. I then decided to leave my family, my friends, my country and everything I knew behind to come to Taiwan. I came to pursue my own path, enrolling in the Global Masters of Business Administration (GMBA) program at the National Chiao Tung University (NCTU). This plan would help me more positively answer the question “Who am I, exactly?”

Although it has been more than a semester since I joined GMBA, I have not yet been able to answer this question. But, I know that I am more open to different view thanks to the GMBA program and I am one step closer to finding my answer. First, through joining GMBA, I have improved my interpersonal and presentation skills. Most courses in GMBA require students to present, discuss and work with other students in a group. To be honest, I am a rather shy person, especially in public, but now I feel more confident and comfortable presenting in front of the class.

The GMBA program is also currently in cooperation with NCTU's Center for Academic and Industry Collaboration, which has extensive connections with entrepreneurs and start-up companies. Through this cooperation and comprehensive coursework, I have received rich exposure and diverse learning environments. For example, this semester I am taking Entrepreneurship and New Product Development.

For this course, we took a field trip to meet technology start-up companies in IASP- an incubator at NCTU. On a second trip, we did a business model building exercise with real products, technologies and teams at the “Smart Living Shaping the Future” exposition in Taipei. These useful experiences allowed us to apply knowledge in the real world and real business situations.

It is a great opportunity to be a Global Master's of Business Administration (GMBA) student at National Chiao Tung University (NCTU) in Taiwan! Forget about boring classes writing lecture notes for 3 hours. Students in the GMBA program enjoy their student life!

On March 25^th 2017, the  Entrepreneurship and New Product Development class held session at the Taipei Expo Park. Students attended the “Smart Living Shaping the Future” Project Presentation and  Competition held by the Taiwanese Ministry of Education.

所以交大GMBA(企管碩士學程)在碩一下、碩二上開設了具有連貫性的創業課程

碩一下學期是教學，碩二上學期則是做中學

同學們分組，在老師指導下完成自己的BP

交大GMBA和ICRT挺有緣份，

是英文實力跟外派工作(前東家公司很少用ITI之外的人)。

在交大GMBA，則是碩士學位和思考訓練，

學位在社會走跳還是有其價值的(而且管理學位拿工作簽比較不容易有問題XD)
